Having been born with under developed toes, I have learned to be thankful I can walk. Psychologically, it crippled me.
At the age of four, I noticed I was different. Insecurity set in and from that day on, I did everything I could to hide them from everyone. It has affected nearly every aspect of my life. It may seem silly for a woman of 52 to still be so self-conscious about something most people don't even think about. Their toes.
As a teen, the local pool was out of the question. I didn't participate in sports for fear my peers would see my feet. Slumber parties were fun - As long as I kept my socks on. The only people who ever saw my feet were very close friends and immediate family. Of course, those who love me never judged me. But I've spent my life running for my shoes if someone stopped by unexpected.
Fast forward forty-eight years and my daughter is getting married! I'm so excited and happy for her! Then the dreaded question every woman asks, "What am I going to wear?" And the question burning in my mind, "I have to find shoes - nice shoes - pretty shoes"... And for the millionth time, "I wish I had toes".
So off to the internet to search for a miracle. I thought, "If they can make silicone boobs, why can't someone make silicone toes?" I stumbled across a video of a woman who had prosthetics made in California. Ironically, her toes looked eerily similar to mine. I couldn't imagine the cost, but she was so happy, she was dancing in her new feet!
Then I found EBL on Etsy.com. Her work was stunning and her credentials sold me. I needed someone with a Bachelor of Fine Arts - A Visual Artist to make toes. I sent her the video link and asked if she could possibly make something like this for me. She replied with a yes... after a few photos, measurements and a mold kit sent to me, she began creating from a photo I sent her of the cutest feet I could find!
Emily was so kind and understanding through the whole process. I never doubted her ability. Even when I got nervous (second guessing myself), about skin tone; size; fit; she handled the entire process in a respectful and professional manner. The final product is truly "life-like". My toes look and feel real. She exceeded my expectations with her amazing talent.
You have made a miracle happen for me, Emily. And yes, I'm like a grown woman with brand new toes in the shoe store! And I will be dancing in my new toes at my daughter's wedding!
Thank you seems so inadequate for how you've made me feel and the difference this will make in my life. I cannot express how much this means to me. There aren't words to describe your incredible talent and kind heart that made it possible.
I am and forever will be, so very grateful. You are changing people's lives with your gift.
God Bless You Emily!
